Karleigh has taught workshops throughout Utah including at the Bountiful Davis Art Center and Central Utah Art Center. She's also taught community classes at Snow College. Karleigh also travels to teach and has taught in downtown Los Angeles and Forest Grove, Oregon at the Focus on Book Arts Conference. 

 

 

 

Workshop Options


10 Book Workshop

Time: 15 hours split into 2 or 3 days

Cost: $250 which includes all materials for your 10 books

Description: In this two day workshop, each student has the opportunity to create and keep 10 different books. We will cover the basics of bookbinding for beginners, but students of all skill levels are welcome.

The ten book structures are:

  • Single Sheet Books

  • Chapbooks

  • Japanese Stab Bound Books

  • Flower Fold Books

  • Accordion with Pockets and Sewn Signatures

  • Hinged Ledger Book

  • Circle Accordion

  • Softcover Leather Longstitch

  • Hardcover Longstitch

  • Tapes Bound Book ( A Traditional Hardcover Book)

 

 

 


Raised and Inset Designs in Paper, Fabric and Leather

Time: 6 hours

Cost: $125 which includes all materials

Description:Give your books a little character! In this workshop each student has the opportunity to create 3 book covers with Paper, Fabric and Leather. Each book cover will have an inset or raised design of your choosing. Raised and Inset designs on spines of books are also demonstrated and discussed.

 

 


Steampunk Books

Time: 12 hours split into two days

Cost: $210 which includes all materials

Description: Ready to be a little bit rebellious? Take a step into the steampunk world with this workshop! We’ll explore metal, wood, leather, antiquing, raised and inset designs, a variety of cover attachment options and we’ll add a bit of unique decor to our journals! Each student will make their own steampunk book from scratch. This course covers two stitches, the double needle coptic and sewn-onto-tapes.

 


Artists’ Books   

Time: 6 hours

Cost: $125

Description: Debunking the myth that artists' books are too difficult to make, this class will give you new understanding to organizing your creative ideas and help you explore the world of Artists’ Books. Karleigh will be unlocking her idea book for you to take a sneak peak at the creative process and her way of storing and building ideas. She’ll demonstrate the use of the 6 elements of the artists’ book and how to create a really strong artistic piece. You will have the opportunity to create your own artists' book ideas in the class and start your own creative ideas book.

 


Flower Box Fun

Time: 4 hours

Cost: $85 which includes all materials

Description: This box is blooming full of surprises. The petals fold into the box but still allow room for something to be placed inside. In this fun workshop each student will make their own flower box. We’ll also discuss flower varieties that can be used, different materials and different box shapes and sizes for future box making fun.
